An initially peaceful demonstration against an AfD event in Henstedt-Ulzburg ended with an incident. It is said that a car struck the counter-protesters. The police reportedly fired a warning shot.

About 200 participants demonstrated on Saturday under the slogan “No AfD in Henstedt-Ulzburg” in the district town of Segeberg. The reason for this was a party meeting at the community center, to which the Federal President of AfD, Jörg Meuthen, had also traveled. At first the demonstration was peaceful, there were drums and whistles. There were small fights, but there were no injuries.

The mood changes with the second unannounced demo

Then obviously the mood changed. Another unannounced demonstration had formed a few meters away, police said. The participants in this second demonstration belonged to the spectrum of the left. They were dressed in black, hooded and partially intercepted visitors to the AfD event, it is said.

Loud explosion: police warning shot?

Then an NDR Schleswig-Holstein reporter heard a blast, possibly a warning shot from the police, as eyewitnesses report. A car is said to have hit the protesters. It is not yet clear if anyone was injured. AfD supporters are said to have sat in the car. The police have not confirmed this yet, but have launched an investigation.
