Berlin – Big alarm on Saturday night in Berlin-Mitte. After witnesses wished they had seen a person with a long gun, the police advanced with a task force and the SEK.

Around 0.30 am, heavily armed agents secured the area around the “Alte Münze”. According to information from BILD, three witnesses had seen a man with a long pistol in the “Alte Münze” and reported to the central property protection of the Berlin police in the Interior Senate.

A large-scale operation began, a hundred officers with submachine guns secured the area.

Several suspects were provisionally detained, but were allowed to leave after being checked. At first no weapon could be found.

The streets around the Red City Hall and the Inner Senate, Berlin’s seat of government, were largely closed for the duration of the operation.

A police spokesman confirmed the operation in the morning. No weapon was found. He could not say how many police officers were on duty.
