A man has reportedly been killed in public in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, near Paris. According to constant media reports, the man was beheaded.

After the event late in the afternoon near an educational institution in Conflans-Saint-Honorine, the French counter-terrorism prosecutor said they were on fire. He is investigating, among other things, a murder with a terrorist background.

The alleged perpetrator is said to have been detained by the police shortly afterwards in nearby Éragny-sur-Oise. According to the media, he tried to attack the police, they shot him. Éragny-sur-Oise Mayor Thibault Humbert told BFM-TV station that the alleged perpetrator had been killed.

One person is said to have been beheaded in an attack, Humbert said. “It is incredibly violent. That is the information I have now.” He was on site and in contact with investigators.

The background to the incident is still unclear. The victim is said to be a teacher. The man showed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in class, a police source said.

Just a few weeks ago there was a knife attack in front of the former editorial building of the satirical magazine “Charlie Hebdo” in Paris. Two people were injured; here too, investigators assume a terrorist background.

At the same time, the trial of the alleged helpers of the terror series in January 2015, in which a total of 17 people died, has been taking place in Paris since the beginning of September.
