Ver.di has called on public service employees to strike again today. A human chain is planned for the morning in the center of Hannover.
Public sector workers have been on strike for more money for weeks. Negotiations are scheduled to take place again on October 22 and 23. Before that, the unions want to increase the pressure again. They ask for a 4.8 percent salary increase for public sector employees. Today the nurseries in Hannover are closed. Garbage is not collected in the region, and waste disposal centers and landfills are also closed. Employees of the Hannover Region Clinic are also asked to stop working, but patient care is guaranteed, a spokeswoman for the ver.di union said.
Protest in Stadthagen
In some districts of Hannover, municipal employees also go on strike. The municipal nurseries in Hildesheim will probably remain closed. In the Hameln-Pyrmont district, garbage disposal is affected. According to the district, residents must put their trash cans in front of the door, emergency operation will be maintained. At Celle, among others, Lebenshilfe and hospital employees will resign from their jobs. A protest action is planned in Stadthagen, involving employees from the cities of Rinteln, Bückeburg and Neustadt am Rübenberge, as well as from the Schaumburg district.

In Osnabrück, the authorities, savings banks and municipal public services are affected and there too, garbage disposal is on strike. In kindergartens and in the Osnabrück Clinic, however, there should be no impediment. City councils, municipal utilities, savings banks and waste disposal companies in Göttingen, Hann. Münden, Osterode and Duderstadt should also remain closed. Employees of the city and district of Wolfenbüttel, as well as of the Wolfenbüttel kindergartens, want to strike. Also, Stadtbad remains closed.
