In the morning in Bruckberg near Landshut, two brothers were hit by a train and died. As announced by the Lower Bavarian Police Headquarters, the accident occurred around a quarter past seven. At Bruckberg train station, the two students crossed the tracks to catch a waiting train, a spokesperson reported. They were run over by another regional train.

According to the police, the students were 13 and 17 years old. They were on foot and crossed the tracks on Landshuter Strasse right at the train station. There was a train to Landshut that they both wanted to take. The police spokesman said they were probably heading to the school. The barrier at the crossing was closed. When the young men were on the track, they were taken by a train in the opposite direction, which was coming from Landshut towards Munich. The engineer wanted to activate an emergency brake, but it was too late.

Pastors take care of the many eyewitnesses

Many witnesses also observed the accident: other students and travelers. They were taken over by numerous pastors and members of crisis intervention teams, the spokesman said, as did the train conductor, whose path had captured the two. Around 100 emergency services were deployed in Bruckberg.

The Bruckberg level crossing and the railway line were closed for more than five hours, and the tracks were only cleared again at around 12:45 pm Until then there was a track replacement service with buses between Landshut and Moosburg. Bruckberg is halfway between these two cities.
