The RKI is reporting 2,467 new corona infections this morning. That is less than the previous days and is typical of a Monday. But a comparison with previous assemblies shows an upward trend here as well.

As is typical on a Monday, the Robert Koch Institute reported fewer new corona infections in the past 24 hours than in previous days. Health authorities informed the RKI of 2,467 confirmed cases in Germany, down from 3,483 on Sunday and 4,721 on Saturday.

The numbers are lower on Sundays and Mondays because not all health departments provide data on weekends. But compared to Monday a week ago, the number of new infections increased by more than 1,000; At that time, 1,382 confirmed cases were reported. In previous weeks, the numbers were even lower: on Monday in September they were 1192 (28.9.), 922 (21.9.), 927 (14.9.) And 814 (07.09.).

According to the RKI, at least 325,331 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the Corona crisis. The number of deaths related to a corona infection increased by six to a total of 9,621. According to RKI estimates, there are 276,900 recovered.

According to RKI estimates in Germany, according to Sunday’s management report, the number of views, or R-value for short, was 1.40 (previous day: 1.42). This means that an infected person infects 1.4 other people on average. The R value represents the infection rate approximately one and a half weeks earlier. Additionally, the RKI gives a seven-day R call in its current status report. The value refers to a longer period of time and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.37 (previous day: 1.43) according to information from Sunday. It shows the infection process for eight to 16 days.

Duisburg and Munich also exceeded the threshold

Meanwhile, more and more German cities are becoming hot spots in the crown. Over the weekend, Cologne, Stuttgart, Essen and Mainz, among others, reported that they had passed the critical mark of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. Duisburg and Munich were added on Monday.

On Sunday, North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Armin Laschet announced uniform restrictions on public life at Corona’s hotspots. Only up to five people from different households should be allowed to gather in public. In addition, in this case the opening hours of bars and restaurants will be restricted. Stricter upper limits should be applied to the number of participants at public events. This now also applies to Duisburg, which has an incidence value of 50.1.

In Munich, this value is now 50.5. The city had already exceeded the corona warning value and subsequently implemented stricter corona rules. Until Thursday inclusive, meetings in public and private spaces, as well as in restaurants, should only be allowed in groups of a maximum of ten people. For events in closed rooms, such as weddings or birthdays, there is a maximum limit of 25 participants. In the course of hardening, alcohol consumption was also restricted.
