The number of new corona infections in Delmenhorst continued to rise on Sunday. After another 15 new corona cases, the seven-day incidence also increased significantly again.

It wasn’t until Thursday that Delmenhorst passed the limit of 50 new infections per 100,000 residents and has been a risk zone ever since. According to the Delmenhorst health department, the value had risen to 89.0 on Friday. From Friday to Saturday, 23 new corona cases were registered. On Sunday, the city reported a further increase and 108 people are currently infected. This also increased the seven-day incidence from 117.1 recently to 135.4 infected people per 100,000 residents. According to the city, three people are now in hospital treatment. 379 people were reportedly in quarantine on Sunday.

Different information about the incidence value

In data from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Health, Delmenhorst’s situation looks slightly better. In the data presented, the country had an incidence value of 90.3 for the city on Sunday. The city of Delmenhorst explains the differences compared to the official information provided by the country with delays caused by transmissions. Other districts in Lower Saxony have already exceeded the limit in the Ministry of Health data, in some cases significantly. According to Land am Sonntag, this also included Cloppenburg (103.7), Wesermarsch district (51.9), Vechta district (50.4), Emsland district (52.6) and Bentheim county ( 70.0).

Health Department: The situation is tense

A rapid decline in the number of infections in Delmenhorst is apparently not to be expected. Helge Schumann, head of the health department, refers to the development of the last days. Consequently, it currently assumes that the high number of cases will continue in the coming days. The situation is very tense, said Schumann. According to the city, the infections have spread within families. Otherwise, there are no connections between infected people when tracking contacts. Schumann suspects that the increase will also increase due to infections from outside the city. Delmenhorst is not a Gallic village, with neighboring Bremen and the Wesermarsch district there is “a diverse exchange”. Delmenhorst Mayor Axel Jahnz (SPD) had previously announced that each lead would be monitored and investigated with great care taken to the health department.

A maximum of ten people is now allowed to gather. This applies to both your own home and outdoors. There is a maximum limit of 25 people in public access rooms and restaurants. This regulation coincides with the measures for risk zones of the Crown regulation of the state of Lower Saxony, which has been in force since Friday. The city of Delmenhorst calls on the population to abide by the contact restrictions and Corona rules and refers to “strict controls” by the city and the police.
