The number of new confirmed corona infections has increased significantly in Germany. More than 2,000 new cases were recently reported daily, and even more than 4,000 on Thursday morning. For comparison: in June there were only a few hundred a day. Last week, Chancellor Angela Merkel even warned that the number of new infections each day could rise dramatically by Christmas, to 19,200. But how likely is this forecast to materialize?
