reThe number of new corona infections registered in Germany has passed the threshold of 2,600 for the second time in a few days. Health authorities reported 2,639 new corona infections in one day, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced Tuesday morning. That’s just slightly less than Friday morning, when the highest value since the second half of April was reported with 2,673 new infections in one day.

According to the RKI, at least 303,258 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the Corona crisis (data as of October 6, 12:00 am). According to the RKI, the number of deaths related to a corona infection is 9546. That is 12 more than the previous day. Approximately 265,600 people survived the infection according to RKI estimates.

According to RKI estimates in Germany, according to Monday’s management report, the number of views, or R-value for short, was 1.21 (previous day: 1.23). This means that an infected person infects more than one other person on average. The R value represents the infection rate approximately one and a half weeks earlier.

Additionally, the RKI gives a seven-day R call in its current status report. The value refers to a longer period of time and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.08 (previous day: 1.14). It shows the infection process from 8 to 16 days ago.
