It is already clear on Saturday that SSC Napoli will not make the trip to the top game of Serie A at Juventus in Turin: the authorities had banned the team from leaving due to several crown cases. The league still insists on hosting the game and therefore guarantees grotesque images in Turin.

The referee and the Turin Juventus players waited on Sunday night for rival SSC Napoli who had not arrived. The Naples team did not travel to Turin for two cases of Corona in the team. The league had not canceled the game according to statutes.

According to his decision, games can only be postponed if clubs have fewer than 13 professionals or 10 crown cases occur in a week. Health Minister Roberto Speranza finally confirmed Sunday that there would be no game.

The Juve professionals had arrived at the Allianz Stadium anyway, the line-up was announced and even some spectators were present, although it was clear to all that the rival professionals would not arrive. The game is now expected to be 3-0 rated for Juventus.

“Less football, more school”

Health Minister Roberto Speranza warned that soccer should be given a little less importance in times of the coronavirus pandemic. There are other important things at the moment, he was quoted by the Italian news agency Ansa and listed among other things work in hospitals. He also said: “A little less football and a little more school if possible.”

Italy had been severely affected by the February pandemic. After a strict lockdown, the number of infections remained low for a long time. In the meantime, however, the numbers are rising again more strongly. On Saturday, authorities registered more than 2,800 new infections in 24 hours and 27 more deaths from corona.

The game plan in Serie A is already unclear due to the pandemic. The match of the third day between CFC Genoa and FC Turin scheduled for Saturday has been postponed. At least 17 professionals have now tested positive for the Genoese.
