The quarantine also applies in part to returnees from German hotspots.

According to the Bundestag administration, there is currently an obligation to quarantine at home after a stay in a risk zone in Germany in four federal states. This stems from a memorandum from the Bundestag administration, which has RTL, ntv and the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

“In four countries (Berlin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein), the infection protection ordinances as of October 1, 2020 also establish the obligation to self-quarantine at home if a person travels from a risk area within Germany or from there the respective country travels back, ”quoted ntv from the memo.

According to the broadcaster, returnees from Berlin-Mitte, Hamm, Remscheid and Rhön-Grabfeld are currently affected. Here, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days is above the critical value of 50, of which the regions are considered risk areas. In Berlin, however, it is still unclear whether the districts can be assessed individually, the Berlin Senate rejects it, reports ntv. For the capital, the incidence of seven days according to the Senate is 32.7.

According to the memorandum, members of the Bundestag, which is located in Berlin-Mitte, can be exempted from the quarantine obligation. Schleswig-Holstein expressly excludes politicians; provided there are no symptoms of Covid 19. In the states of Berlin and Rhineland-Palatinate, people are excluded, “whose activities are absolutely necessary for the maintenance of the functioning of the parliament, the government and the administration of the federal government,” cite the Means of note. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, MPs can enjoy exemption from the quarantine obligation.
