Christian Lüth, a former press spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group, is said to have inflicted severe violence on a woman. The AfD leadership was informed of the accusation. Lüth had previously made headlines because he is said to have said migrants could be “gassed.”

GRAMFormer press spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group, Christian Lüth, has filed a criminal complaint with the Berlin prosecutor for serious physical attacks against a young woman. They are said to have occurred at the beginning of the year. The complaint is in WELT AM SONNTAG, and the Public Ministry has confirmed that it was received there in June.

The leaders of the party and the Bundestag faction were informed of the allegations, as confirmed by several of the responsible politicians there upon request. Consequently, AfD federal spokesperson Tino Chrupalla and his party colleague Roman Reusch met with the alleged victim in March, who briefed them on the allegations against Lüth.

According to the woman, she also met with the leader of the parliamentary group Alexander Gauland a few weeks later to have that conversation. This did not answer questions about the processes. Upon request, the leader of the parliamentary group Alice Weidel also announced that she had heard of the accusations of a young woman of violent assault by an AfD employee months ago. Weidel’s spokesman wrote that he had advised the woman at the time to file a complaint.

The AfD relieved Lüth from his post as spokesperson for the parliamentary group in April. Officially, this happened because he had expressed himself as “fascist” in a chat. When asked how and if the party had pursued the criminally relevant accusation of the woman, federal spokesman Chrupalla wrote that he had informed the legal department of the Bundestag parliamentary group and other members of the executive committee of the parliamentary group.

Lüth himself did not comment on the allegations when asked.
