The mask requirement for parts of Munich city center will be lifted from Friday. In addition, up to ten people can meet privately, in bars or outdoors in the Bavarian capital. That was decided by the staff for extraordinary events spearheaded today by Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD).

Reiter is reacting to the decrease in the corona incidence number, which has been below the 50 signal value for several days. This means that there are now fewer than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days.
The number of participants remains for celebrations and alcohol bans
The limitation on the number of participants in private celebrations, such as birthdays or weddings, remains unchanged: “Indoors” is a maximum of 25 and “outdoors” is a maximum of 50 people.
Private celebrations are currently the main source of infection in Munich. The prohibition of alcohol at night on weekends in the well-known “hot spots” still applies.
It is not yet clear whether the spectators at the Bayern game
Saturday’s FC Bayern amateur match against SG Dynamo Dresden must take place without spectators. On Thursday it will be decided how it will be handled in the meeting between FC Bayern and Hertha BSC on Sunday.
In Munich, according to figures from the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) on Wednesday, there were 36.97 new people infected per 100,000 residents in a week (at 8am).
💡 What does seven-day incidence mean?
The seven-day incidence shows how many people in a city or county tested positive for the coronavirus during a seven-day period. For the value to be comparable, it is given for every 100,000 inhabitants. It is very easy to calculate: the new infections reported daily during the previous seven days are added, the total is divided by the number of inhabitants of the city or district and multiplied by 100,000. In May, the federal and state governments established the seven-day incidence as a guide for local corona measures. In Bavaria there is an early warning value: of 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, cities and municipalities should review measures to contain them. From the national limit of 50 new infections, relief should be withdrawn. (BR24)
