The president of the United States, Donald Trump, apparently made a decision. The US media reports that today he will nominate Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court. The 48-year-old lawyer is a favorite among conservative Christians and Republicans, in part because Barrett is very religious and staunchly opposed to abortion, and in part because she is one of the lawyers who interprets the constitution at face value.

The mother of seven impressed the president two years ago when she was seeking a new Supreme Court judge. At that time, Trump chose Brett Kavanaugh. Barrett also has the advantage that it has already been tested and proven. That could speed up the process.

Apparently, there is no meeting with other candidates.

It is reported that she has already been in the White House in recent days. Although Trump had repeatedly spoken about five serious candidates, he apparently never met with the other women, not even Barbara Lagoa from Florida, who has vocal supporters.

Trump and the Republicans want to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court before the November 3 election. They appear to have the necessary majority in the Senate. A vote would be possible at the end of October.
