In the opening match of the second Bundesliga match, Hertha BSC lost their home match to 4,000 spectators 1: 3 (0: 2) against Eintracht Frankfurt. The goals for the guests were scored by André Silva (30th minute, penalty kick), Bas Dost (37th) and Sebastian Rode (71st). Berlin’s goal came from an own goal by Martin Hinteregger (77th).

The 4-1 win at Werder Bremen gave Hertha coach Bruno Labbadia no reason to change his starting eleven. Things looked a bit different with his opponent Adi Hütter: after the disappointing 1-1 draw against newly promoted Arminia Bielefeld, Danny de Costa and Dominik Kohr had to sit on the bench, Stefan Ilsanker and Almamy Touré started for them.

The changes did the Frankfurters good. From the start, the guests seemed closer to the opening goal than the Berliners in a lively match. They suffered a setback from the start: Filip Kostic collided with Hertha defender Jordan Torunarigha in offensive action and had to be replaced after minutes of treatment (15th). Summer came for him to hire Steven Zuber.

Penalty Silva, header Dost

The first opportunity of the match came from one of the newcomers: Touré crossed from the right wing into the six-meter area, where Silva launched a header just above the goal (25). Shortly after, Silva was back in the spotlight: Dedryck Boyata brought the Portuguese to his feet. The 24-year-old turned the penalty into the left corner. Alexander Schwolow in the goal of Hertha jumped to the right side, but had no opportunity to defend against the shot placed (30th). Seven minutes later, the 0-2: Daichi Kamada crossed from the right wing, in the middle Dost headed without much resistance (37º).

Hertha remained too unimaginative and tried almost exclusively with offensive diagonal balls. Aside from a chance by Dodi Lukebakio (33.), the hosts were not offended. Labbadia wanted to change that with a three-man change during the break: Jhon Córdoba, Arne Maier and Deyovaisio Zeefuik started with the Berliners in the second half.

Only Torunarigha’s solo contributes something countable

Berlin now acted a little more actively. In the 58th minute, a Lukebakio header missed the far post. But that’s it again. The blow fell from the other side. Rode was allowed to move away from the edge of the penalty area and the ball went from the left post to the goal – 0: 3 (71). A solo career inspired by the courage of despair brought the 1: 3: Torunarigha made his way down the left wing, his center was unfortunately promoted by Hinteregger to his own net (77th). There were no more blows, Eintracht won 3-1 after a very concentrated performance.

Frankfurt will host TSG Hoffenheim at 3:30 pm on Saturday, Hertha BSC will play for FC Bayern Munich on Sundays (6 pm).
