Kai Havertz finally made it to Chelsea, and how!

The German international scored three goals in the Blues’ 6-0 (2-0) victory in the third round of the League Cup against FC Barnsley.

In the 28th minute, the former Leverkusen player, who moved to the island for 100 million euros before the season, pushed his left foot into the far corner to make it 2-0, his first competitive goal in the new club was perfect.

Havertz replaced after a three pack

In the second half he made it 4-0 and 5-0, each after flagrant errors from the English second division and from close range. Havertz was then taken off the field by coach Frank Lampard in the 66th minute.

The 21-year-old also played a part in Ross Barkley’s 3-0 win when he took the ball with a brave tackle. The other goals were for the accounts of Tammy Abraham (19th) and Olivier Giroud (83rd).

Havertz’s blows came at the right time. Before that, he hadn’t done much in two Premier League appearances and the first doubts arose.

Lampard renounces Rüdiger

Lampard’s system change may also have something to do with the fact that Havertz finally broke the knot. Unlike the league, the former England international installed his team in the 4-2-3-1 system, Havertz was allowed to run in 10th behind center forward Tammy Abraham.

So far Lampard had always acted 4-3-3, in which Havertz remained pale as an outsider.

Against Barnsley, Timo Werner had to take a seat on the bench and stayed there throughout the match, Antonio Rüdiger was again searched in vain on the squad list. It is said that the central defender is on the FC Barcelona list.

Fuchs with own goal against Arsenal

Chelsea will now face Leyton Orient or Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 16 of the League Cup. The third-round matchup was canceled Tuesday due to a crown outbreak between several Leyton players.

Arsenal FC did the same as their rivals in the City of London and advanced to the next round. The Gunners won 2-0 at Leicester City. An own goal from former Schalke player Christian Fuchs paved the way before Edward Nketiah made it clear shortly before the end.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton FC beat Fleetwood Town 5-2 away.
