After the city of Munich exceeded the upper limit of 50 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days (seven-day incidence) at the end of last week, the crown crisis team in the capital of the state decided to tighten contact restrictions.
If the numbers remain so high, a new blanket decree is planned for Wednesday, as Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) said in Munich: As of Thursday, only five people should be in Munich, both in public and private spaces and in restaurants. Meet members of two households.
Mask requirement in certain places
According to Reiter, only 25 people can participate in private celebrations, for example weddings, funerals, birthdays, school graduation parties, and club and party gatherings, indoors and 50 people outdoors. This reduction does not apply to cultural or sporting events.
Also, according to the mayor, there will be a mask requirement in certain public places: at Viktualienmarkt, Marienplatz and Sendlinger Straße. This applies to walking and standing as well as to sitting. The duration of the rules should be seven days, Reiter explained.
Markus Söder “very concerned”
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) said in the morning that he was very concerned about the situation in Munich. He’s in close contact with Mayor Reiter. As a possible reaction to the increase, he called for a mask requirement in public places if the minimum distance could not be maintained, alcohol bans and other restrictions on private celebrations. The Bavarian cabinet wants to deal with the tightening of the rules on Tuesday.
Incidence of seven days from Friday more than 50
The city had already exceeded the limit of 50 new infections per week and 100,000 inhabitants on Friday, after which more measures will be taken to protect against the infection.
