Krefeld police are searching for the 53-year-old man suspected of grossly abusing his 32-year-old wife for days. Then he put it in the trunk of his car.
Four of the couple’s children (ages three to nine) have been brought to safety. The police took them out of their parents’ home after the alleged abuse.
Special Forces Requested for Krefeld’s Apartment
It is not known whether and to what extent they noticed their mother’s abuse.
At first, the police had not ruled out that the man was hiding with the children in the apartment. After officials only had “fleeting contact” with the children through the apartment door, special forces were called in as a precaution, as a spokesman for the Krefeld police headquarters said.

Finally, the police were able to speak to the children again through a window.
After they said her father was not home, firefighters and police took her out of the house.

They were alone in the apartment; the mother’s allegedly violent husband was not with them. There is still no trace of her, a police spokesman said Saturday.
