Up to 27 degrees: September continues at a record high

Hoch “Manfred” brings summer weather back to Germany, temperatures are rising again, rain is unlikely. It remains friendly even after the course change.

The end of summer has settled in Germany and will stay with us for a while: “Until the weather changes on Friday, it will be a little warmer every day,” explains meteorologist David Gächter of the DTN weather service. “And even after that, there is definitely no gloomy weather in November.”

We owe it to Hoch “Manfred” over the North Sea, which brings dry and warm air to Central Europe. The low “Paulette” is only more noticeable in the southwest. “This low over Spain brings relatively warm air to the southwest, so that on Saturday the temperature in Freiburg, for example, rises to 25 to 26 degrees,” says David Gächter. During the day, the thickest cloud fields come from the southwest, but the rain only comes in the form of isolated showers on Sunday night.

It will only get hotter Saturday in the far west, in Aachen with around 27 degrees. According to DTN, the north and northeast are at least 20 degrees, for example in Hamburg, Bremen and Berlin.

In the southwest, “Paulette” is notable

“In principle, the following will apply in the coming days: the further you go northeast, the colder and drier the air will be,” explains David Gächter. This can also be seen in the lower values: under the clouds in the southwest, the thermometer drops from 11 to 12 degrees at night, in Bremen and Neubrandenburg, on the other hand, from 6 to 7 degrees.

On Sunday, Hoch “Manfred” will allow temperatures in the east and northeast to continue to rise: in Berlin, for example, to 22 degrees and in Nossen in Saxony even to 23 degrees. “In Freiburg, on the other hand, we see a slight drop in temperature to 24 degrees on Sunday,” said David Gächter. “There is due to the influence of the low on Spain, with more clouds and less sun.”

“You can’t talk about storms”

Sunday will be warmer again in the extreme west, Zülpich, near Aachen, for example, you can expect 27 degrees. In the mountains and on the edge of the Alps, there may be more rain and storms, “but there can be no storms,” says David Gächter.

Early next week, temperatures will continue to rise in many places. In Bremen it will be 23 degrees on Monday and 24 degrees on Tuesday, 25 and 27 degrees in the capital, 26 and 27 degrees in Dresden. It also arrives in Cologne the two days before a cold front hits from Wednesday. “This cold front comes from the west and is the first to be noticed there,” explains meteorological expert Gächter, especially with the drop in temperatures.

“Significantly less than at the beginning of the week”

“In the west it is 3-4 degrees cooler on Wednesday than the day before, but throughout Germany the real drop in temperature does not come until Friday,” explains David Gächter. It remains the warmest in East Germany: in Cottbus and Berlin the thermometer reads 21 degrees, in Freiburg 16 to 17 degrees, in Hamburg 15 to 16 degrees and in Mönchengladbach 16 degrees. “That is significantly less than at the beginning of the week,” says David Gächter.

Despite the looming cold front, the balance for September should be clear: “This is likely to be one of the warmest September since records began,” said David Gächter.
