This is the result of a summit between the four carnival committees from the cities of Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bonn and Aachen with the state government on Friday.
“Carnival social events are not possible,” said the director of the State Chancellery, Nathanael Liminski (34 / CDU). On the other hand, small “cultural events” with a scenic program might be possible according to the Crown rules.
Then there will be no big moves. Carnival balls or street parties will also not be possible due to the Crown Protection Ordinance of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Liminski appealed to everyone: “Don’t go to the carnival bastions on the big days!” Carnival must be prevented from becoming a source of contagion. You have to tell everyone: “This is not the carnival that lived in previous years.”
