Shortly after the price and release date for the PS5 were announced, pre-orders began. But contrary to Sony’s statements, the PS5 pre-order started too early and it worked without a hitch in many places. Now the PlayStation 5 is sold out almost everywhere and many are leaving empty-handed, at least for the moment.
Many have been waiting for this: At the PS5 event on September 16. (Here’s the summary on the live ticker) The time had finally come. As many had hoped and hoped, Sony announced the release date and price for its next-gen PlayStation 5 console.
How much does the PS5 cost?

When will the PS5 be released? In Germany, the PS5 will be available from November 19. In the USA, Japan, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and South Korea one week before, that is, as of November 12, 2020.
Sony announces PS5 pre-order and causes chaos
However, after the event there was some excitement within the community. Because Sony didn’t say a single word about pre-ordering the PlayStation 5 during the PS5 live stream.
When can I pre-order the PS5? Shortly after 11pm and after the end of the PS5 presentation, Sony subsequently sent the desired information via Twitter:
He said that pre-orders should start today, September 17, 2020, with selected sellers.
The leak, according to which the proceedings should begin shortly after the announcement, has become a reality.
That caused chaos: But things were different than announced, different from what Sony communicated a few minutes before. Shortly after the tweet (on September 16), it was already possible to pre-order the PS5 in Germany, for example on MediaMarkt.
Many other sites, such as Amazon or Saturn, were either unavailable or had already taken the PS5 product page offline, ostensibly to update them.
Shortly after midnight, the pre-orders apparently began fully. But that didn’t go well either. Numerous websites have been overloaded and are no longer accessible within seconds of initiating the pre-order.
For example, Amazon has been very slow for a long time. Even if you managed to put a PS5 in the shopping cart, for some people the page got stuck in the checkout process (probably due to an overload), so the checkout process could not be completed.
PS5 already sold out
That was fast: Just a few minutes after the pre-orders were released, only the digital version of the PS5 was available from numerous vendors, and it was sold out shortly after, just hours after midnight.
This is the current state: Currently (17.09., 7:30 am), the PlayStation 5 is already sold out with all the main providers in Germany, such as MediaMarkt, Saturn, Otto, Expert or Amazon. So if you noticed it too late or just wanted to pre-order this morning, you’re probably looking into the tube for now.
On Ebay, deals over $ 800 are popping up like mushrooms. In the US, many complain that the PS5 sold out before pre-orders officially started, according to Sony.
Sony promised to make more consoles than when the PS4 was released, but judging by early reactions, not everyone has been able to reserve a PlayStation 5 console in this mess. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown when and if more pre-orders for the PS5 will be accepted before launch.
