Apprentice driver dies in car accident in Wermelskirchen
Wermelskirchen A 44-year-old apprentice from Leverkusen was killed in a car accident Tuesday. His motorcycle collided with a motorcyclist coming from Leverkusen.
On Tuesday around 5:50 pm on the L101 in Limmringhausen there was a serious traffic accident with death. A 44-year-old woman from Leverkusen was riding a driving school motorcycle on L101 heading towards Odenthal when she ran into oncoming traffic on a right-hand bend and collided with a 37-year-old motorcyclist from Leverkusen.
The Leverkusen man was second in a group of three other motorcyclists. The man behind, a 54-year-old man, also from Leverkusen, applied the brakes to avoid a collision with the learner driver. Both motorcyclists in the group fell during the maneuver.
After the collision with the second motorcyclist, the apprentice driver went off the road and crashed into a tree. Despite immediate first aid measures from a random Burscheid police patrol and rescuers who arrived later, the 44-year-old died shortly thereafter in a hospital.
The two downed drivers were seriously injured, but not fatally, in the accident. They were transported to the surrounding hospitals.
In addition to the police, three ambulances, an ambulance, an ambulance helicopter and the Wermelskirchen fire department were on duty. L101 remained closed until 9:00 p.m. during the recording of the incident. It has not yet been clarified why the learner driver drifted out of the lane.
