Runner-up Borussia Dortmund has advanced to the second round of the DFB Cup. Coach Lucien Favre’s team beat third division MSV Duisburg 5-0 (3-0). Jadon Sancho scored the first goal from the spot (minute 14), before Jude Bellingham (30) and Thorgan Hazard (39) increased before the break. After the break, Hazard found himself again (39th). In his comeback after more than 220 days of injury, Marco Reus scored 5-0 in the 58th minute.

At BVB, 17-year-old Bellingham and Paris Saint-Germain signed Thomas Meunier were two newcomers to the starting lineup. Another 17-year-old, Giovanni Reyna, who knew how to convince in the preparation, started in the position of the central offensive midfield. Captain Marco Reus was later replaced.

Following a hand from Maximilian Sauer, BVB received a penalty, Sancho converted on the top left (14). After half an hour, Bellingham’s new signing increased after Hazard hung up the hoe. The game seemed decided early. Hazard then straightened the ball himself just before the penalty area and slid into the left corner (39). After a direct pass, Dominic Volkmer only knew what to do with an emergency brake against Erling Haaland, who was hurrying away. The defender was sent off and Hazard converted the subsequent free kick directly into the goal (39).

After the break, Dortmund continued to take advantage of the majority. Reyna’s low shot was deflected unsustainably by teammate Axel Witsel (50). Lucien Favre then made several changes, including Marco Reus. The BVB captain took exactly three seconds to score: Sancho overtook the national player, who pushed from the bottom right (58). As a result, Duisburg allowed no more hits.
