A long-distance bus pulls out of the lane of Autobahn 24 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and into a ditch. More than 30 people are injured, three of them seriously, according to police. There are already initial indications of the cause of the accident.
In a serious long-distance bus accident on Autobahn 24 near Wöbbelin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 31 were injured. The cause of the accident is still being determined, it may be the driver’s microsleep, said a police spokesman in Rostock. Three people were seriously injured, but their lives were not in danger.
The bus veered off the road in the direction of Hamburg between the Wöbbelin and Hagenow junctions and into a ditch. There were no further details on the injured. The accident occurred at 5:45 am, the spokesman said. According to the NDR, the motorway was closed at the entrance to Wöbbelin in the direction of Hamburg.
Initially, the place of departure and the destination of the bus were unclear. The spokesperson said that passengers of different nationalities had been sitting in the vehicle. The 31 injured reached the nearby hospitals. According to NDR information, three rescue helicopters also headed to the crash site, but were able to turn around and fly back to their bases.
