Court imposes heavy prison sentences for child abuse
Bergisch gladbach In a trial for the Bergisch Gladbach abuse complex, two defendants in Mönchengladbach were sentenced to lengthy prison terms. Krefeld and Viersen’s men had to go to prison for more than thirteen years.
The district court sentenced the men from Krefeld and Viersen to thirteen and a half and fourteen and a half years in prison for gross child sexual abuse and possession and distribution of child pornography. It was the first nationwide process that was initiated in relation to the Bergisch Gladbach complex.
The person from Krefeld confessed to initially sexually abusing his now 11-year-old daughter and, along with Viersener’s man, beginning in spring 2017, his now 12-year-old niece. The 39-year-old from Viersen, on the other hand, had admitted to abusing his niece since 2015. But he only admitted to a third of the accused cases. He was silent on the gang abuse charge. Advocates for the two, who had demanded significantly lower sentences, announced that they would challenge the verdict.
In total, more than 100 cases of abuse were accused. Some were hired because they could only have been solved with the help of the victims. But, according to Judge Lothar Beckers, “we wanted to forgive the girls.” With his lengthy confession, the Krefeld defendant had already ensured that the two victims did not have to testify in court. “I’m sorry for what I did,” the father had declared.
The two men had recorded and photographed their deeds. In both cases, the mothers had no idea of the martyrdom of their daughters. The Krefeld native lived apart from the boy’s mother and abused the girl when he came to visit her. The sister had regularly entrusted her little daughter to Viersener.
The investigation into the abuse complex began with the search for a family man in Bergisch Gladbach. At the time, investigators found many digital contacts with other suspects whom they accused of child abuse.
