In the car accident with a car belonging to Winfried Kretschmann’s entourage, a one-year-old girl died; the prosecution has now adjusted the procedure and is investigating her father for wrongful death. Kretschmann canceled all public appointments.

northAfter the death of a one-year-old girl as a result of an accident involving a vehicle belonging to Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens), the Heilbronn Public Prosecutor adjusted the procedure. After it was initially determined due to negligent personal injury, it is now wrongful death, as a spokesperson announced Monday. The investigation is directed against the girl’s father, 33, who allegedly caused the accident.

The boy died from his injuries on Sunday. Kretschmann then canceled all public appointments on Monday. “For reasons of pity we are unable to make appointments,” said a government spokesman.

The prime minister really wanted to visit Baden-Württemberg’s first natural park, the Schönbuch, with Forest Minister Peter Hauk (CDU) on Monday afternoon. Now the appointment is expected to recover by the end of the week, said from the State Ministry. Kretschmann is scheduled to attend Tuesday night’s automobile summit with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU).

“I am full of sadness”

The Prime Minister reacted with dismay at the news of the little girl’s death on Sunday: “I am full of sadness,” he said. The head of government was traveling with his entourage on Autobahn 81 north of Heilbronn on Monday last week when his company car skidded on a wet road, collided with a guardrail and stopped on the shoulder. Shortly thereafter, the car with three occupants collided with the convoy support vehicle.

The father of the 33-year-old boy and the driver of the vehicle were seriously injured and a 29-year-old woman was slightly injured in the passenger seat. Kretschmann, who was not behind the wheel, was unhurt.
