In Leipzig, violent riots broke out during a spontaneous demonstration against the eviction of an occupied house on Friday night. According to eyewitness reports, the policemen were thrown with cobblestones and firecrackers from a group of around 200 to 300 partially masked people. According to the police, eight policemen were slightly injured and several cars were damaged, including six police cars.
Protesters also set garbage cans on fire and several trams were forced to stop by road barricades. The police used tear gas.

“There was a huge stone throwing at our forces and vehicles,” reported police spokeswoman Dorothea Benndorf. A meeting leader was not released to officials. From time to time, people had set up and set fire to barricades. Previously, protesters had damaged the Wiedebach Pass police station with paint bags, breaking a window.
Later, the police increased the number of their emergency services. Two police cars collided with each other, which was recognized by the stone throwers with scornful shouts. The violent outbreak of violence lasted approximately three-quarters of an hour. Then the situation calmed down. The police also used a helicopter.
Local residents helped clear barricades made of road signs and burning garbage cans from the streets. Some yelled at the rioters to get out of Connewitz.

Second night of consecutive riots in Leipzig-Connewitz
