Cartoonist Uli Stein died at the age of 73

Hannover. Cartoonist Uli Stein died at the age of 73. His foundation announced this in a press release on Friday. Consequently, Stein died unexpectedly a week ago on the night of Friday to Saturday at his home near Hannover.

Stein suffered from Parkinson’s disease until his death. However, his death came as a surprise to those around him, the message says. The funeral took place at close friends in Hannover. Stein does not leave a family.

Steep career as a cartoonist

Uli Stein was born on December 26, 1946 in Hannover. During his studies in Berlin he worked as a freelance photographer and copywriter for newspapers, later also for Saarland radio, until he devoted himself entirely to drawing in the late 1970s. In 1982 the first postcards were released and in 1984 the first books by Uli Stein.

He followed a steep race beyond the borders of Germany. In addition to drawing, Stein had another passion for many years: photography. As a photographic artist, he concentrated on the nature, landscape and urban motifs of the Hannover and Lower Saxony region. Plus, there was his passion for animal photography.

In 2018, Stein founded the Uli Stein Foundation for Animals in Need. The nonprofit foundation supports smaller organizations at home and abroad that are committed to the protection, aid and rescue of animals, from underfunded animal shelters to sanctuaries.
