According to the plans of the federal Minister of Health, Jens Spahn, part of the nursing staff of the clinics should also receive a crown bonus after the elderly care workers. It will implement a proposal that the German Hospital Society (DKG) and the umbrella association of legal medical insurance funds (GKV) have drawn up, Spahn said in Berlin.

Bonus for up to 100,000 caregivers
According to the proposal of the DKG and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, a maximum of 100,000 nurses should receive a premium of up to 1,000 euros. How high the surcharge actually is should be based on the burden the nursing staff was under.
As in the care of the elderly, the federal states will co-finance the premiums with 500 euros each. 100 million euros will be taken from the health fund, which is fed mainly by contributions to health insurance. The funds will only be allocated to hospitals that have treated a certain minimum number of Covid-19 patients by September 30.

Criticism of the general salary in nursing
Christel Bienstein, president of the German Association of Nursing Professions (DBfK), believes that the money should only be paid to the staff of certain hospitals as it is considered “unfair”.
