After the scandal over his disgraced lover in fall 2019, Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn has returned his titles to his royal and noble wife.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand has returned all royal and military titles to his official mistress, who was rejected last fall. The reconciliation was announced Wednesday in the Royal Gazette, the official publication point for official notices.

Disloyal to the monarchy

Sineenat “Koi” Wongvajirapakdi was demoted in October because she had violated the king’s will and was disloyal to the monarchy. The 35-year-old was practically the second wife alongside Queen Suthida for a few months last year and even carried the title of wife of royal nobility at times.

After her titles were revoked, the former concubine was jailed. She has not been seen in public since. Already over the weekend there were unconfirmed reports that Koi had been released and taken to Germany, where Vajiralongkorn lives most of the time. He owns a villa on Lake Starnberg, but is said to have moved his entourage to the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Garmisch-Partenkirchen during the Corona crisis.

An unusual step

Former Major General Koi was elevated to “Chao Khun Phra” in July 2019, a kind of concubine, an extremely unusual step also in Thailand. At that time, the royal family published more than 60 photos. The withdrawal of the title came equally surprising in October.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, also Rama X., is married for the fourth time. He officially has seven children from previous relationships. He married Queen Suthida just days before her coronation in May this year.
