Corona situation in homes: Spahn does not want new visit bans

The federal Minister of Health, Spahn, recommends flexible protection measures in homes, schools and nurseries during the winter. The infection process is currently well controlled. To keep it that way, everyone’s willingness to engage in dialogue is required.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn rules out the renewal of bans on visiting homes for the elderly and the elderly. Instead of bans, restrictions and concepts are needed, especially in winter, when it’s not so easy to gather outside anymore, Spahn said. Furthermore, each outbreak must be responded to at the local and regional level, as agreed with the countries.

In March, the measures adopted, including the bans on visits to homes for the elderly and the elderly and the closure of kindergartens and schools, were successful in protecting the entire population and, above all, the weakest in society. “You cannot evaluate the situation in March with the knowledge of September,” warned the CDU politician.

Balance between protection against infections and everyday life

At the same time, Spahn called for a willingness to dialogue in the Corona crisis. “The virus is dynamic, we have to be too.” Learn better every day to find the balance between protection against infection and everyday life. In the retail sector or in healthcare facilities, the situation is currently well controlled with hygiene concepts and masks.

It is important that the federal and state governments ensure that no new dynamics emerge and that the situation does not slip. But a lot has already been accomplished with a relatively low number of infections, Spahn said. This means that one can “confidently” go into fall and winter.

Spahn: “Aggressive minority” protests

In view of protests against Corona’s policy at demonstrations such as in Berlin and on the dates of his own election campaign, Spahn spoke of a “loud and aggressive minority.” In his opinion, the vast majority of citizens support the measures.

In a democracy, however, contradiction is not only allowed, it is desired. For example, wearing a mask in class is not about absolute truth, but about weighing. If with some people “because of all the hatred and screaming” conversation is not possible, so be it. But it is important to offer talks. Spahn said he had no answer to the situation that had sparked so much hatred and frustration in recent months.
