A police spokesman spoke to WELT in the late afternoon of a “large group of people” who had moved from the Victory Column to the Brandenburg Gate. About 200 officers were on duty and accompanying the group. In the late afternoon, in the March 18 square in front of the Brandenburg Gate, a registered rally of opponents of the Crown took place, which according to the High Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg was also allowed. According to information from WELT, the police had already broken up an illegal meeting in Großer Stern at noon. Two other permitted demonstrations passed through Berlin at noon.
After a call from the Stuttgart initiative with lateral thinking 711, tens of thousands demonstrated in Berlin against the Crown’s protection measures on Saturday. They called for the lifting of all restrictions designed to contain the pandemic. On the sidelines of these demonstrations there were scenes of violence, including at the Russian embassy, where protesters threw bottles at police officers.
