Health Minister Spahn has become the target of angry crown protesters. During an appearance in Bergisch Gladbach, the CDU politician is insulted and spat on. A few days earlier, there were incidents at Spahn’s appearances on NRW.
According to a report, on Saturday the federal Minister of Health, Jens Spahn, was spat on during an election campaign in Bergisch-Gladbach. The CDU politician had confirmed this to the “Rheinische Post,” the newspaper reported. Spahn was also insulted when trying to strike up a conversation with angry opponents of the crown measures.
The minister told the newspaper that a conversation should be sought with those who are dissatisfied with the crown’s policy. The discussions were part of democracy. “It only works if both sides are willing to listen. But when there is yelling, spitting and intimidation, it just doesn’t work.” The “Express” newspaper reported that Spahn was in the North Rhine-Westphalia district town on Saturday to support his party friend Christian Buchen in the election campaign for the mayor’s office.
Police investigations in Wuppertal
Already on Monday there were incidents in Spahn’s appearances. In Wuppertal, the police are investigating a woman and a man who allegedly blocked the minister’s car. Authorities are also investigating due to an unrecorded rally against unknown persons: according to police, initially around 20 and later around 50 people loudly protested against Spahn’s corona policy.
Videos on the internet show Spahn vocalizing, among other things. According to the “Westdeutscher Zeitung,” the minister said, “one person yelling at the other is not the kind of discussion that will ultimately move us forward.” The appearance in Wuppertal, which was actually planned in a square, was eventually moved to a nearby CDU office.
A few hours later there was another incident in Dortmund: a man stood in the already open door of Spahn’s car and did not let him in while reading something from a note. The police seized the man and took him away. In this case, according to the Dortmund police, no complaint was made. The situation was resolved “communicatively”.
