What case? Basically, there are two. The first: Thomas Kemmerich, short-term free democratic prime minister in Thuringia at the mercy of the AfD.
Once again he has made an inglorious talk about himself and, after being reprimanded, says he will consider what role he can and wants to play in the Liberals in the future.
After all, Kemmerich stays away from the FDP federal board. At least that. That alone leads to Case Two: Federal President Christian Lindner. One of his main mistakes since his re-entry to the Bundestag is the election of Kemmerich.
Erfurt’s shame: Lindner not only did not stop him beforehand, but tried the next day to change the mood in Kemmerich’s favor. Thank goodness it was unsuccessful, also due to massive opposition from North Rhine-Westphalia.
NRW competition?
Now NRW is actually Lindner’s power base. But now Joachim Stamp is at the top, supported by Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, Johannes Vogel, and Otto Fricke, all independent minds.
In particular, Stamp, Minister of Integration and Deputy Prime Minister at NRW, is gaining stature. Five percent in federal government polls, just above parliamentary elections, feed the argument for correct leadership. Another Kemmerich case, and the Lindner star threatens to burn.
