500,000 protesters want to rally initiators of the demonstration against Corona regulations Saturday in Cannstatter Wasen. Stuttgart city authorities are skeptical of the number of people. The press officer for the city of Stuttgart confirmed one corresponding SWR report On twitter. The city is now looking for a solution.
The Cannstatter Wasen was well filled last Saturday. Several thousand people demonstrated here and in other German cities against regulations for containment of the coronavirus; in some cases, conspiracy ideologues and right-wing extremists were among the protesters.
It is true that there are registrations for 500,000 participants. The authorities do not consider this to be realistic.

The city of Stuttgart limited the number of participants to ten thousand and warned the initiators to keep a distance of 1.5 meters at the site. With the registration of 500,000 participants, the organizers went one step further. The city’s press spokesman tweeted: “There is no place in Stuttgart for a demonstration of this size in times of the pandemic.”
The city plans to announce its decision on the number of participants on Thursday, the SWR reports. One is arguing with the organizers about this. The arrival and departure of Corona’s opponents should also be better coordinated. One thing is for sure: the police should crack down on violations of Corona regulations. It should be verified more strictly. If people do not meet the minimum distances or the mask requirement, a fine of 300 euros must be paid.
