The trial of a soldier has begun at the Bergisch Gladbach abuse complex in Moers, Bas-Rhin. The 27-year-old largely admitted to the acts before the foreign criminal chamber of the Kleve Regional Court.

He is said to have abused four young children in a total of 36 cases. He is said to have committed the crimes multiple times with a chat partner accused of a different trial. The man was dangerous to the public, the prosecutor said when reading the accusation. According to the court and the prosecutor, their victims were between two and five years old.

Stepson trusted the mother

According to the court, three of the abused children are plaintiffs in the process. The defendant described the first attack on his two-year-old daughter in the courtroom. According to his description, he was repeatedly assaulted when his wife was not at home. Abuse cases became more serious over time. At some point, his chat partner wrote that he would like to have a child with him. “We wanted to meet regularly and do more,” said the 27-year-old. So the stepson of the five-year-old defendant also became a victim.

After all, the stepson told the mother about an assault while showering. The man later reported and had to move, but was only arrested in October. After his children were no longer available to him, he wanted to take his niece to a meeting with the chat partner. In an unobserved moment, he tested how far he could go with the girl, the defendant said.

The man is said to have repeatedly taken photos and videos of the acts he sent to his chat group. After the police questioning, all of his photos were deleted on his cell phone. His chat partner offered him new ones. “I couldn’t say no,” said the 27-year-old. He was arrested before a scheduled meeting.

Investigations at the national level

A first test in Mönchengladbach started in late April. Two 39-year-old men are accused of child sexual abuse in 79 cases. Between 2015 and 2019, the two Germans from Krefeld and Viersen in the Lower Rhine are said to have repeatedly raped two girls.

Meanwhile, the Kleve District Court Prosecutor has filed charges against another defendant. The last 61-year-old lived in Xanten, according to the court. She is accused of serious sexual abuse of children in ten cases, including her own daughter.

The investigation into the abuse complex, which started with a case in Bergisch Gladbach, now extends to all federal states.
