It’s the surfer’s nightmare!
For Ben Kelly († 26) it came true. The passionate surfer grabbed his board on Saturday afternoon and made a few laps off the California coast. Suddenly: a shark attack!
Kelly died at the scene of her serious injuries, state park authorities said. The accident occurred 90 meters in front of Manresa State Beach, near Santa Cruz.
Kelly is said to have been known in Santa Cruz, she had her own surf shop. There he sold handmade boards.
With his store, he turned his passion into a profession. Two years ago he wrote on Facebook: “With each handmade board there are infinite possibilities. (…) It is my job to find the surfboard and bring the surfer to life! “
The local surf scene expressed regret for Kelly on social media.
