3rd league: clubs vote to continue season with ghost games – football

Decision in the 3rd league!

The 20 clubs and the DFB discussed a three-and-a-half hour video conference on Monday afternoon on whether the current season should stop or be played with ghost games.

Result: the third division committee unanimously (!) Gave the association the recommendation that the league should be suspended initially. It had to be because the current suspension is only valid until April 30. But: As soon as politics allows, it should be kicked (without viewers).

Also, a separate vote among the 20 clubs showed: The majority is for a continuation of the season! According to BILD information, the central question of the vote was who is willing to continue the season beyond June 30. Ten clubs voted yes, eight with no. There were also two abstentions.

These are Kaiserslautern and Meppen. Both clubs are interested in ensuring that the season ends in late June. Is this feasible, but are both also for ghost games, which would make the vote even clearer?

Eight clubs (all relegation spots) wanted the season to end immediately. A puncher for Mannheim, who recently publicly argued with the death of a Waldhof player’s father over a layoff (and promotion in Mannheim).

Interesting: Duisburg league leaders also voted against a continuation. However, just because it was not resolved in the current wording, there will be relegations to the regional leagues. The MSV fears that winery clubs will stand up with a class maintenance guarantee.

Therefore, it is clear that the third league, like the Bundesliga, is really just waiting for the green light of politics. A decision could be made at the meeting of prime ministers and the federal government on Thursday.

Also important: DFL emergency relief was specified once again. Six million euros will be distributed to 19 clubs (all except Bavaria II) after deducting the costs of the Corona test (!).
