Joe Biden is apparently getting closer to winning the US presidential election. According to media reports, the Democratic candidate has surpassed Donald Trump in the counts in the states of Georgia and Pennsylvania. In Georgia, his lead is 1,096 votes, according to CNN television station, in Pennsylvania a good 5,500 votes.

According to the Reuters news agency in Pennsylvania, after counting 95 percent of all votes, 49.4 percent are Biden and 49.3 percent are Trump. On election night, Trump had said in light of his leadership that he would clearly win in the state. It’s still too early to determine a winner, though: According to CNN, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s largest city alone, about 25,000 votes must be counted. Therefore, it is theoretically possible that the result will continue to change.

More recently, a US federal judge rejected the Trump campaign team’s request to stop the count in Pennsylvania. The lawsuit will not be allowed, said Judge Paul Diamond. Trump wanted to force the count to continue only if Republican observers attend. However, following a court order, Republicans now have access to the Philadelphia Electoral College. Trump’s team believes that the observers’ work will be hampered.

Pennsylvania holds a special place in the battle for the White House. The state has 20 electorates. If Biden wins in Pennsylvania, the presidential election would be in favor of the Democrat. If Trump loses in state, he will no longer be able to reach a majority of the 270 Electoral College voters.
