reAccording to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), health authorities reported 11,409 new corona infections in one day early Tuesday morning. On Tuesday a week ago, the number was 6,868. On Saturday, 14,714 new infections were reached, a new record since the start of the corona pandemic in Germany. The death toll surpassed 10,000 over the weekend.
The current values are only partially comparable to those of the spring, as many more tests are now underway and more infections are discovered as a result.
42 new deaths
According to the RKI, a total of 449,275 people across Germany have been infected with the virus since the start of the pandemic. The number of deaths related to the virus rose from 42 to 10,098 as of Monday. The RKI estimates that around 326,700 people have recovered.
The number of views, or R-value for short, was 1.37 in Germany according to RKI’s management report on Monday (previous day: 1.45). This means that 10 infected people infect almost 14 other people. The R value represents the infection rate approximately one and a half weeks earlier.
Furthermore, the RKI gives a so-called R. The value refers to a longer period of time and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. This value was 1.30 on Monday. It shows the infection process from 8 to 16 days ago.
