DV / BAB 2 – Herzebrock-Clarholz – A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday night on the A 2 in which a vehicle driver was fatally injured. According to the first investigations by the Stukenbrock motorway police, a 32-year-old man from the Gütersloh district was driving his Chevrolet Corvette in the left lane of the A2 in the direction of Hannover. It is said that a syllable car was driving in the middle lane at the same time. Suddenly he switched to the left lane. To avoid a collision with the syllable car, the driver of the Corvette turned right. The man from the Gütersloh district obviously lost control of his car as a result of the steering movement. He first crossed the full width of the freeway lane and then drove right, over a green strip, into a wooded area next to the freeway. The Chevrolet stopped in front of a tree. The car was badly damaged by the impact. Firefighting rescue teams, including a rescue helicopter with an emergency medic, tried in vain to resuscitate the seriously injured driver. The man died at the scene of the accident. To reconstruct the course of the accident, an expert and the technical relief organization were called in to illuminate the accident site. The Chevrolet was impounded. The highway was completely closed for the duration of the accident. Traffic had to be diverted through the Herzebrock-Clarholz junction with the support of the Oelde motorway maintenance authority. Traffic reopened around 1:40 a.m. Meanwhile, there was a backwater about 5 km long. Material damage is estimated at around 25,000 euros. Bielefeld police are urgently looking for more witnesses who can provide information about the course of the accident or the silver car.
