Georgia-Arkansas Football Report Card: Second Half Increases Twelve

ATHENS – Georgia football coach Kirby Smart said he was “disappointed” with the Bulldogs’ performance in Arkansas, but not just with the players.

“To help make our quarterbacks successful, we have to do a better job as staff, including me.” Smart said in the wake of his team’s 37-10 win in Arkansas.

Redshirt newcomer De Von Math Math got off to a good start but was replaced in the second quarter by Stetson Bennett.

The Bulldogs found success with a more experienced Bennett, but that too, because they weren’t making too many mistakes and penalties.

Smart and his staff have plenty of cleaning up after Georgia whistled for 12 penalties.

“It starts with a penalty, it starts with a busting assignment to the guy and the guys signals, and they’re not doing what they’re supposed to do, what I’m thankful for is 100 percent,” Smart said, the Bulldogs ’sloppy first half Asked about Arkansas.

“So when you spin the ball, when we did a good drive HD, we did, when you hold people and you line up in the backfield, you don’t get much success. It’s just not going to happen. “

Here’s a look at a view on status grades:

Quarterbacks (b)

Statson Bennett was finishing first for 211 yards with 20 passes from 29 passes and 2 TDs and completing an excellent 2-point conversion run. D’van Mathis showed his big arm and ability to run, but he was suffering from a penalty that caused him to be chained on more than one occasion. Smart also hinted that the disruption was not his fault.

Running back (c-)

Many wondered if it would get out of there and they got their answer in Arkansas, a decision “yes”, so far. James Cook flapped on the drive early in the second half and did little to break the tackles, stumbling for just 26 yards on 7 carry. Zamir White had 13 carries for 71 yards, but was stopped at fourth and 1 while carrying the third -2-and and red zone again.

Recipients (C-)

Freshman Jermaine Burton was guilty of catching and driving the wrong option route as a result of an obstruction, and Dimitris Robertson made the wrong start. Caris Jackson raised the bar with six high catches in the team, and George Pickens was credible with a third down catch and a 19-yard TD catch. The tight end did little damage, with Darnell and Washington Shington making the longest game of the day (26 yards) and John Fitzp at the trick was a 7-yard TC catch.

Offensive line (C)

There was a drop-bef on the line after losing the first two rounds of NFL offensive tackles and a guard starting as an NFL rookie. Sure enough, Justin Schaefer and Xavier Truss were whistled for holding. It appears that the line run did the right thing to create a crease in the game, but the backs weren’t in sync.

Defensive line (A-)

Smart treats its outside supporters as linemen, so Aziz Ozulari’s safety-inspired strip falls into this group. Nolan Smith had six tackles and 1.5 sacks, a sign of progress. Adam Anderson and Jermaine Johnson also had two hands.

Linebackers (A-)

Nakobe D started making the top 7 textiles in the team at the very beginning of his career and going on the sack. Monty Rice had three tackles but an expensive facemark fine. Quaker saw significant time to play and faced three. Net M BBride also had two stops.

Secondary (A-)

Subper on Arkansas’ scoring drive, but it’s excellent outside. Two interruptions by Richard Lacont gave a statement, and Eric Stokes calculated the first hurdle of his career, returning it to TD to atone for the first pass intervention penalty. Lewis Cine had 6 tackles. Tyrak Stevenson had a stop, too, a horse collar tackle penalty.

Special Teams (A-)

Punters and kickers came by big. Jack Kamarda had an all-American type day average of 49.9 and Hoggs was falling 5 out of 20. Walk-kick kicker Jack Podless made a pair of 38-yard field goals. Kenny McIntosh had two kick returns for 91 yards, and Jackson had two punt returns for 34 yards. Would have gone for more yards if not for a Matt Lenders penalty. Zamir White had a blocked punt, but Quay Walker was run into a kicker penalty.

Coaching (B-)

Credit had to be given to staff for the halftime adjustment, as UGA outsourced Arkansas 32-3 in the second half, but the sound of slow starts and opioids was unclear. It was clear that Sam Pitman had some tricks to exploit UGA tendencies.

Overall (b)

As Georgia’s depth continues to impress, many players are prepared to stand up to the hardships of the staff. Statson Bennett was the fact that the dial speaks well for him and Todd Monken. Once Bennett arrived the air raid principles became clear. That said, Mathis’s running ability and hand strength are something that future defensive coordinators will remember. Three interruptions for secondary is a good start. It’s a win, and there don’t seem to be any serious injuries.
