Facebook will notify you if an article you are about to share is older than 90 days, the company said in a blog post on Thursday.
“Our internal research found that the timeliness of an article is an important context that helps people decide what to read, trust and share,” said the publication, of the new notification screen, which is deployed globally.
In early June, Twitter said it would test a feature on Android devices that asked people if you would like to read the article, you are about to retweet, if they have not yet opened it.
Facebook also said it is looking for a similar notification for posts with related links. COVID-19 that would share information about the source of the link and direct people to the platform’s COVID-19 Information Center.
