Xiaomi’s Mega Launch featured more than smartphones – the company also unveiled a next-gen smartband and a new smart projector.
Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6
This is the biggest update since the Mi Band 3 added a color screen. The Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 is inspired by smartphones and features a screen with rounded corners. According to official numbers, this is a 1.56 ”screen, although its tablet shape makes it difficult to measure.
The important number is that it offers about 50% more screen real estate than the previous generation. The display has a resolution of 152 x 486 px (326 ppi) and a brightness of up to 450 nits. The screen is covered with tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating.

The other major update is the inclusion of SpO2 tracking. It allows the band to track your blood oxygen level during exercise, but it also allows you to track the quality of your breathing while you sleep (REM tracking is also available). A heart rate monitor is still on board, capable of tracking your heartbeat 24/7.

The 125 mAh LiPo battery is the same size as the previous generation and promises the same 14-day battery life, despite the larger screen size. This band uses the same magnetic charge as its predecessor.
Additional health features include female health tracking and stress management. When it comes to exercising, there are 30 fitness modes, twice the size of the previous model. 6 of these modes can be automatically detected: walking, treadmill, cycling, rowing machine (ergometer) and elliptical.

The band is water resistant up to 5 ATM, so you can take it swimming and even diving. It comes with a silicone strap available in black, orange, yellow, olive, ivory, and blue. The strap measures 47.4 x 18.6 x 12.7mm (about the same as version 5), the length of the strap can be adjusted between 155mm and 219mm.
The Xiaomi Mi Band will be available in China soon for CNY 230 ($ 35 / € 30) for the normal version. The NFC edition costs 280 CNY. In Europe, the band will cost € 45.
Xiaomi Mi Smart 2 Pro Projector
This is a pretty serious piece of equipment: it can project an image 60 ”to 120” in size with a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. The projector offers 1080p resolution and HDR10 images.
Focusing is handled automatically thanks to the on-board time-of-flight sensor, everything takes just a couple of seconds. Omnidirectional keystone correction is also performed automatically with a camera that can see the projected image.

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro runs Android TV 9.0 and comes with Netflix pre-installed. You can run apps from other streaming services, of course, but Netflix gets special treatment with a dedicated button on the remote. Processing power comes courtesy of the Amlogic T972-H chipset (2.0 GHz A55 quad, Mali-450 MP5), there is 16GB of eMMC storage on board.
If you want to play media from a local source, there is an HDMI 2.0 port, one more with ARC, an AV input, plus two USB 2.0 ports so you can connect a USB stick. If you don’t want to mess with cables, you can use Chromecast to easily share pictures and videos from your phone.
Internet connectivity is managed via an Ethernet port, and in cases where there is no CAT cable nearby, you can connect to a Wi-Fi 5 network. Once connected, you can use the Google Assistant to control your smart home devices. (for example, turn off the lights when the movie starts).
Port selection on the projector • HDR10 support, 1080p resolution
The projector has two 10W speakers on board and supports Dolby Audio and DTS-HD. If you prefer to use external speakers, there is a 3.5mm jack and an S / PDIF jack.
The projector measures 215 x 201 x 143mm and weighs 3.7kg (8.2lbs), the throw ratio is 1.1.
The Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro will be available soon at € 1,000, although early risers will get it at a special price of € 900.
