Another resident of a coronavirus elderly care facility in western Sydney has died.
An elderly man is the 15th person to die at Anglicare’s Newmarch House in Caddens since an outbreak began in early April.
“He had no immediate family” and is being mourned by the staff at the home, Anglicare said in a statement.
“On behalf of our resident, we mourn his death and appreciate that he was part of our Anglicare family while caring for them,” the spokesperson added.
“His passing highlights how terrible this virus is and how devastating it is to the elderly in our community.
“The impact of COVID-19 on older people is increasingly evident in Australia and internationally and this is extremely distressing for other residents, their families and members of the community at large.”
The national death toll from coronavirus is now 96.
