Nigerians will benefit from a powerful coronavirus vaccine once it is developed, the Nigerian health minister said on Wednesday.

According to local website The Nation, the Ministry of Health has made arrangements to ensure Nigerians receive the vaccine immediately after it is developed, Health Minister Osagie Ehanire announced.

“Just last week, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding to make sure that when vaccines, wherever they come from, that has been established to be effective for COVID-19, we will not be left behind,” Ehanire said. .

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, is one of the worst affected countries on the continent.

Nigeria has so far confirmed 1,160 COVID-19 related deaths and 64,336 infections, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said in its latest daily update.
