NB COVID-19 Roundup: 4 New Cases, Moncton and Fredericton Areas Return to Yellow Phase Tonight

The province announced four more new COVID-19 cases in New Brunswick on Sunday and announced plans to move some areas back to the yellow recovery phase.

There are two new cases in Zone 2 (Saint John), including another case involving a resident at the Parkland Saint John assisted living facility. There is a new case in Zone 1 (Moncton) and Zone 4 (Edmundston).

Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province’s medical director of health, announced during Sunday’s news conference that the Moncton and Fredericton areas are scheduled to return to the less restrictive yellow phase at midnight.

However, Zone 2 (Saint John), where most of the province’s COVID-19 cases are located, will need to remain in the orange phase.

New Brunswick has 82 active cases, with two people hospitalized with the virus.

San Juan is still a hotspot

Saturday saw two more COVID-19 cases in the province, but also 15 recoveries.

The Saint John region remains the COVID hotspot in the province with 44 cases, more than half of the total for New Brunswick.

Possible Public Exposure Warnings for Moncton

Public Health has warned of the following possible exposures to the virus in the Moncton area.

Flights to Moncton:

  • Air Canada Flight 8372 in November 28 from Fort McMurray to Calgary, departed at 6:10 am
  • Air Canada Flight 144 in November 28 from Calgary to Toronto, departed at 11:15 am
  • Air Canada Flight 8918 in November 28 Toronto to Moncton, departure at 8:30 pm

People concerned about having COVID-19 symptoms can take a self-assessment test online.

Public Health says the symptoms that people with COVID-19 display include:

  • Fever above 38 C.

  • A new cough or chronic cough that gets worse.

  • Sore throat.

  • Rhinorrhea

  • Headache.

  • New onset of fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhea, loss of sense of taste or smell.

  • Difficult breathing

In children, symptoms have also included purple marks on the fingers and toes.
