Amazon Echo Buds Get Fitness Features to Track Your Workouts with Alexa

[ad_1]

Amazon is updating the Echo Buds with new fitness features. These new features will allow Amazon’s truly wireless (TWS) headphones to track physical activities such as running, walking, and calories burned. Users will only need to ask the built-in Alexa to start tracking fitness on the Echo Buds. Before the latest update, the headphones offered a hands-free experience for listening to music, playing Audible audiobooks, making voice calls, and getting voice-guided instructions. The Echo Buds also support access to Siri and Google Assistant along with the Alexa integration.

As explained on a support page, the Echo Buds can track workouts such as calories burned, workout distance, step count, average pace, and total time spent during a workout. You can start training tracking using the Alexa app or by simply saying, “Alexa, start a workout.” Once this is done, you can end the tracking by saying “End my training.”

The Echo Buds use the built-in accelerometers in conjunction with personal stats entered in the ‘Workout Profile’ section of the Alexa app to track physical activities. The Verge reports that the new update should start rolling out for users in the coming days.

Upon arrival, the update will allow the Echo Buds to allow you to start a workout by saying “Alexa, start my run” or “Alexa, start my walk.” You can also see your progress by asking, “Alexa, how far have I run?” or “Alexa, what is my pace?”

Amazon did not offer fitness tracking on the Echo Buds at launch. However, the fitness features were rumored to be in before their debut.

In August, Amazon launched its Halo fitness band that uses sensors in conjunction with artificial intelligence (AI) to track physical and mental health. The band debuted for early access to select customers at a price of $ 65 (approximately Rs. 4,800).

The arrival of new fitness features to the Echo Buds makes them a strong contender against Apple’s AirPods and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live, which don’t support training tracking natively. That being said, the Echo Buds are not yet available in many markets, including India.
