May 8, 2020, 20: 7Mogadishu, May 8 (PL) Covid-19 cases in Somalia rose to 928 on Friday after 55 people were infected, said Fawzia Abukar Nur, health minister.

This number is the result of laboratory tests, Fawzia Abukar Nur said during her regular conference on the coronavirus situation.

He added that 41 cases were reported in Mogadishu, 13 in Puntland and one in Hirshabelle. The latter are two of the five semi-autonomous regions that make up the federal government of Somalia.

The Health Minister also stated that on Thursday, five people died and 19 were discharged from the hospital after they fully recovered from the infection.

According to official reports, each of the federal regions is fighting Covid-19, and Somalia reported 26 cases just 17 days ago.

The fact that the cases increased is that the rapid test helps define patients, although it could also mean that Covid-19 is spreading faster and goes deeper than previously thought.

Regarding the Somali situation, the Kenyan newspaper The Nation reported little compliance with social distancing and the use of face masks, as well as poor hand washing, due to the general shortage of clean water.
