COVID-19 cases in GCC: 11 die in Saudi Arabia, 7 in Oman

Dubai: The overall COVID-19 infection count in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain has risen to 850,480 cases, while the total deaths have risen to 8,797.

Kuwait

Some 357 people tested positive in Kuwait on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 142,992.

According to the latest update from the Health Ministry, one person died from the virus, bringing the death count to 881.

An additional 554 fresh recoveries were also recorded during the past 24 hours, bringing the overall recovery count to 137,625

The new cases were detected after 5,572 PCR tests were performed in a single day, increasing the total of COVID-19 tests performed nationwide to 1,101,146.

Active cases have reached 4,486, of which 82 are critical cases in intensive care.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry reported 263 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 357,623 and total deaths to 5,907.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 374 patients in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of people free of the deadly virus to 347,176, with a recovery rate that rose to 97.04 percent.

With the steady drop in the number of daily cases and the rebound in recoveries, active cases have dropped to 4,540, of which 649 are critical cases in intensive care.

Oman

The daily COVID-19 case count has continued to drop sharply, with only 209 infections reported in the Sultanate on Tuesday.

This brings the total number of infections in the Sultanate to 123,908. According to the latest update from the Health Ministry, seven people have succumbed to the virus, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,430.

The total number of people recovered has risen to 115,441, 216 after 225 new recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours.

The ministry has renewed its call on community members to strictly adhere to social distancing protocols and precautionary measures issued by the Supreme Committee charged with addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and the ministry.

Bahrain

The Health Ministry announced 169 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the Kingdom to 86,956. No deaths were reported during the past 24 hours, keeping the Kingdom’s death count at 341. Of the new cases, 83 are expatriate workers, while 70 people had become infected with the virus after contacting active cases and 16 they are related to travel.

The new cases were detected after 10,234 PCR tests were performed across the Kingdom. There were 164 new recoveries, increasing total recoveries to 85,141.

Active cases now amount to 1,474, of which 1,460 are stable, 22 are still in treatment and 14 are critical patients in intensive care.

Qatar

The Public Health Ministry confirmed the detection of 168 new coronavirus cases and one more death on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases in Qatar to 139,001 and the death toll to 238.

Another 216 patients have made a full recovery, bringing the total number of recovered people nationwide to 136,306. Active cases have reached 2,457, including 260 still in treatment, while 33 critically ill patients are in intensive care.
